You’re a 14 year old girl who has been raped.  The rapist is your 40 year old married cousin.  You would expect justice would prevail, right?  In the Islamic world it did not quite work out that way for one girl.

About a week ago, a 14 old girl living in Bangladesh was sentenced to 100 lashes for having been raped by her married cousin.  During the carrying out of the sentence, the young girl collapsed.  She was rushed to a hospital were she died.  Died because she was raped.  What a loving religion.

If this story does not make you sick to your stomach, then you have no feelings at all.  What is most disturbing though is that cases like this might very well become the norm in New Jersey.  Maybe not quite as severe, but the precedent for them was set this summer.

Back in August of last year, a judge in New Jersey refused to grant a restraining order for a Moroccan woman, even though her husband admitted in open court the following:

 ”Defendant forced plaintiff to have sex with him while she cried. Plaintiff testified that defendant always told her “this is according to our religion. You are my wife, I c[an] do anything to you. The woman, she should submit and do anything I ask her to do.”

Fortunately, a New Jersey appellate court overturned the judge’s decision in this case, but it is scary that they even had to rule on the insanity of a case like this.  One has to ask though, how would Governor Christie’s new Superior Court Judge Appointee, Sohail Mohammed rule in a similar case?  Can he really park his religion at the door when the issue of Sharia law and the teachings of Mohammed are involved?  Is it possible that his rulings might be such that Muslim women will feel that they will be held up for contempt and ridicule in his court?  Might they decide that it is better to suffer in silence rather than be open for public disgrace?  Let us hope that this will not be the case, especially for the young Muslim girls in New Jersey.
