The Mad Dash for Gun Control

gun-control-1In the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, our states and the nation are rushing to put even more laws on the books for gun control. With glaring hypocrisy, many of the staunchest advocates for gun control either carry - such as Diane Feinstein - or retain armed guards for their personal protection.

Has New Jersey Stepped Back to The Dark Ages?

dark-ages While science is improving childbirth and prenatal care to the point that most civilized people now take both for granted, the New Jersey Supreme Court today took a giant leap backwards, or is the Legislature to blame?  The Associated Press reports:

Outrageous Things Politicians Say

politics-stupidWith two vacant Supreme Court seats, and too many judicial vacancies in many counties around the State to detail here, Senate President Steve Sweeney yesterday spoke like everything is just a bed of roses.  This is the same Senate President that at the height of the recession in New Jersey believed that same sex marriage was the single most important issue facing the citizens of our State.  He thinks that the State Senate is doing a great job under his "leadership" with filling judicial vacancies.  OUTRAGEOUS!

Calling all Thinkers

the-thinker Is conservatism a "life style"? Former candidate for Congress and Tea Party activist David Larsen thinks so. Since he made his statement, there has been a lot of discussion here at CNJ about it. Is Larsen right? If so, does that make Michael Oakeshott wrong? Oakeshott was Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's favorite philosopher.

Outrageous Things Politicians Say

politics-stupidToday President Obama went to Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He went there not to discuss a budget, which for the 5th year in a row his administration has missed the statutory deadline for, not to discuss the abysmal unemployment rate he and his policies have created and burdened us with, not to tell anyone how he will cut spending, which he has made no effort to do whatsoever.  No he went to Minneapolis today to discuss shredding our Constitution and ignoring the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights.  OUTRAGEOUS!

This exchange with David Larsen is getting weirder and weirder

david-larsen-1 On January 19, at a gathering called to discuss the future of the conservative movement, two-time candidate for Congress David Larsen raised some issues in an exchange with libertarian Professor Murray Sabrin. Larsen later posted this statement, which for me summed up what he was getting at:
