Liberal Nanny State Declares “Feelings” Trump “Truth” - Boy Guilty of Bullying!
In what most sane, rational people, and certainly any parent of a 10 year old, can only describe as a ludicrous over reaching of government power running unabated, the State of New Jersey, via Education Commissioner Chris Cerf has deemed that a 4th grade girl’s feelings are more important than a 4th grade boy telling the truth. You can’t make this stuff up.
In our omnipotent legislature’s “nanny state” state of mind, they passed the “Anti Bullying Bill Of Rights” which was signed into law by Governor Christie in January of 2011. Many people said it was only a matter of time before this legislation was used to usurp parental rights and parental decision making in the upbringing of their children. Simple things, like ”young Johnny you should always tell the truth” were predicted by some to be on the chopping block being prepared by the state.
Well, it didn’t take long for the mighty weight of the government to destroy that very basic tenant that parents try to instill in their young children: Tell the truth.
In the very first case under this pathetic legislation to make it to the Education Commissioners desk, the “nanny state” liberals wanting government control of our children from the earliest age possible are left jumping for joy. Governor Christie’s Education Commissioner ruled that even though little Johnny told the truth, which he deduced by himself, that “truth” “hurt the feelings” of his classmate and therefore he had to be punished.
It makes one wonder if staffers in the Commissioner of Education’s office are smoking some of New Jersey’s medical marijuana.
The case is pretty straightforward, the ruling of the commissioner is pretty convoluted. You can read all of it by clicking here.
It appears that parents in New Jersey can no longer teach their children that the truth is a good thing. When telling the truth can get you labelled as a bully, there is something seriously wrong with the law. There is something even more wrong when we elect legislators that enact laws that makes telling the truth an act worthy of being labelled a bully resulting in punishment and stigmatization for a 10 year old child.
What is wrong with them?
What is wrong with us for enabling them to do this?
What is wrong with us for allowing them to continue to destroy the fabric of our society in the name of good government?
